The start of spring break

John and K are at softball practice and S and C are upstairs cleaning their bedrooms and rearranging who sleeps where. This should be interesting! They are fighting about where the pictures go, what radio station to listen to and who gets which bed in the room. Seriously, I didn't suggest this change in rooms. My oldest has her own room, what is she thinking? Being one of 10 kids, if you get your own room you keep it until death do us part, or you moved out! I do wonder about my kids sometimes.

Our Judicial System

This past year I know someone who was called to jury duty. The case that was presented was a horrible case of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the first degree to a child. The person on the jury took their role serious, listened to the evidence(which was he said she said) and really struggled with the decision to not convict. It turned out to be a hung jury and that they would have to re try the case.

When the case was over the judge talked to the juriers and told them that it was ok b/c the person was already in jail for some other horrific act and would be there for a long time. (Which the jurors did not know until then.) Then in the mail the person received a letter from the court saying that the convict entered a gulity plea to Criminal Sexual Conduct in the first degree. This really pisses me off! Not only did this jerk get to enter his case in a court of law, he had to taint this persons life w/ that story! That person never had to know about this girl's hard luck. I knew there are sick people it just sucks when they get a chance to tell their horrible acts in a court of law and make innocent jurors sit through it and have that in their memory forever! It just seems like there should be a better way to get that plea before a trial! Cattle prod?

Christmas

This has been the Christmas of procrastination! We finally went out and bought a tree this past Sunday, we decorated it on Tuesday night and I think my youngest kido is allergic! I guess time will tell! I have found a recipe for awesome mint cookies and have been cooking batch after batch. Today I brought a couple dozen to a meeting and the leftovers I passed out to anyone I saw walking out of the hospital. The admitting ladies, valet, security and I tried to give one to my favorite cardiologist but he just quizzed me on how many sticks of butter were in the cookies! Party pooper!!

When I get a chance I will try and down load some pictures of our Christmas tree chopping adventures!

The week of the list

Well this week I decided I need to put a list on the refridgerator to make sure things got done. The old honey do list. It consisted of clean out the basement (huge job), put up motion detector on the outside of the house, pull out all of the old plants from the garden, put away the hose for the winter, take down the basketball hoop before winter, fill up the gas tank, put the new comfort select mattress on his side of the bed, his had a whole in it for months and hasn't held the air, dig up the winter coats, hats, mittens and boats and buy new ones for those that need them and change to the 4% max checking at the credit union.

Well as of today the only thing left on the list is: clean the basement and dig up the winter clothes (which are in the basement). I consider this a big week of accomplishments!! Thank you honey for working the list!!

Vegetables are coming in

Here is a picture of my first zucchini that came from my very own garden! I just pulled a zucchini bread from the oven and it smells great in here. Who would know that such a vegetable could create such an awesome smell. Here is the product with the posers!

I think Christine thinks it is going to bite her?

And Samantha is practicing rocking a baby!

and Katie is thinking of a recipe to cook with zucchini!

Little do they know that I have made zucchini bread with it so they will be able to enjoy it on Friday when I see them at the Lake. yummmy!

Gardening

This year I decided I wanted to try and plant a garden. I talked my husband into making me veggie boxes. A few years ago we tried to plant veggies in the ground behind the garage and it netted me some tomatoes and that was about it! So, this year we are trying again and I am hoping for success. I will be posting pictures to show off my veggies but so far all I have are dirt and plants!

I thought I bought a green pepper plant but that is not a green pepper. Do you know what it is?

Strawberry picking

Well I did it! I took two of the girls strawberry picking today. I went with one of my friends and her two daughters came along with there quiet and obedient children. My were not so quiet or obedient. K went walking up and down the rows finding the biggest strawberries and not following the directions. I didn't care because it looked like there were enough that should have been picked days ago laying around so she was just helping them out! On the drive home my kids got more and more silly. K says "Mom, spell I cup" of course I'm not falling for that one! Then C says "spell pug backwards" again not falling for it! Not sure what my friend thought about our car ride home but I'm sure she is glad her kids are all grown and out of the house!

Tomorrow's goal~ homemade strawberry jam, I'll let you know how it turns out!
