The week before spring break Katie was out of school for 3 days. She started Tuesday with shivering during reading and someone took her to the office and took her temperature, 101.3. Now why that person would do a crazy thing like check her temperature, it only causes trouble! Then the school calls, we pick Katie up and she spends the day on the couch watching dvd's, playing her DS and generally running around and making a mess! Did I forget eating Popsicle after Popsicle because she was "sick"! Day 2 same as day one. She has a temperature, and does not look, feel or act sick. I let her stay home because we were told by the school she had to be temperature free for 24 hours. Skip ahead to day 3 home temperature was down to 99.4 in the morning but still a fever. Being the good nurse and mom I am I gave her tylenol and she continued with the daily ritual of tv, ds and running around. Today I did throw in some homework and finishing up her book report. By noon she was going stir crazy and so was I. I told her to go outside and play. Go ride your bike, scooter, dig in the ground just go outside! I also needed to run errands so I said we would go out for lunch and then run some errands (Sam's club, flowerland and Meijer's) She warned me before we left that she was home from school sick and she isn't suppose to leave the house! I then said an executive decision was made and you can go out this one time when you are sick! On the way home from all of our errands she told me "Mom, I think, I could do this homeschooling thing". I laughed and said Katie this is not homeschooling this is running errands and going out for lunch! She asked me how this was different from homeschooling. I told her homeschooling is scheduled times for each subject just like at school. No tv, no ds, no going outside to ride your bike. It would be like doing your homework all day long with no friends around to play with at recess and me being your teacher! Oh, I guess I want to go back to school tomorrow! Good decision! The next day was a half day, I didn't check her temperature, feed her tylenol and sent her to school! Thank God no problems!
